The Yankees offered arbitration to none of their eligible players. I find this very interesting. The Yankees forfeited (potentially) 4 draft picks that could have been extremely helpful. Bobby Abreu is one of the Type As that we did not offer arb to. He wants a 3 year deal around 45 mil. If the Yankees offered him arb. there was a virtual certainty that he would decline, meaning the yankees would get 2 compensation picks when he signs elsewhere. The worst case scenario is that he accepts, which isn't even that bad! Bobby is an established right fielder who knows how to get on base. It seemed like a win win for the Yankees, but they obviously didn't think along those lines.
