AJ Burnett

According to MLBTR, the Yankees are expected to top Atlanta's 4 year 60 million dollar offer. This in my eyes, is ridiculous. AJ Burnett = "Pavano 2.0" as Kevin often says. This isn't too far from the truth. Here is his career injury list, courtesy of Sporting News
April 1, 2001 - May 1, 201: stress fracture in right foot
Aug 19, 2002 - Sept 1 one bruise in right elbow
Mar 29, 2003 - April 9, 2003: right elbow inflammation
April 26, 2003 - June 3, 2004: right elbow inflammation, had Tommy John surgery and returned to action the following year
March 27, 2006 - April 15, 2006: right elbow soreness (Wikipedia says a piece of scar tissue from TJ broke loose)
April 22, 2006 - June 22, 2006: more right elbow soreness
June 19, 2007 - June 28, 2007: right shoulder soreness
July 3, 2007 - Aug 12, 2007: more right shoulder soreness4, 2002

That is a laundry list of injuries, most of which have to do with his PITCHING ARM. Signing him for 4 years for upwards of 60 mil is just a recipe for disaster.
Luckily, the Yankees plan to make Ben Sheets a 30 mil offer for 2 years. They are very similar pitching wise, only Sheets has better control. He has also been injury prone, but 2 years is such a lower risk than 4 or 5...
